GYM ETIQUETTE
GYM ETIQUETTE
Etiquette is a code that influences expectations for social behavior according to contemporary conventional norms within a society, social class, or group. Rules of etiquette are usually unwritten, but aspects of etiquette have been codified from time to time. Rules of etiquette encompass most aspects of social interaction in any society, though the term itself is not commonly used. A rule of etiquette may reflect an underlying ethical code, or it may reflect a fashion or status.
This seems to be one of the trickiest subjects to approach. It seems that inevitably some people may be offended by this page, but those people are probably the worst offenders. It is our hope that most will consider this educational and maybe help to improve everyone's fitness experience.
Consider this! BE NICE, treat other people like friends. After all, we have a great deal in common: FITNESS!
All too often, some (not all) seasoned fitness people do not treat Newbies (new comers) very well. Newbies help support the industry. Without fresh people we may not be able to grow as an industry. Help out your fellow fitness friends.
BE CONSIDERATE: clean up after yourself. It's always nice to workout in a place that is clean and organized. Be sure to clean up any sweat you may have left behind, and return weights to their appropriate place. Most of the time the next person to follow you may not be able to lift the weight you left on the spindle of the machine you just got finished with. I.E. Leaving large plates on a leg press or a calf machine. If you put them there, please take them off. If someone else left them there do the right thing put them away.
